Cubism by the French painter Albert Gleizes is the thirteenth book in the Bauhausbücher series, directed by Gropius and Moholy-Nagy: the former being the famous director of the Bauhaus, and the latter one of the school’s most influential professors.
Albert Gleizes, a French painter and writer, played a key role in the development of Cubism, even proclaiming himself as one of the founders of the movement. His connection to the Bauhaus, despite not being an official member, is marked by his significant contribution in the form of an essay on Cubism, which he dedicated to the art school. This essay was recognized for its importance by László Moholy-Nagy and Walter Gropius, who included it as the thirteenth volume in the Bauhaus books series in 1928.
Gleizes’ essay is important not only for discussing his own works but also for showcasing the works of other key figures in Cubism, such as Georges Braque, Robert Delaunay, Fernand Léger, and Pablo Picasso.

La serie Bauhausbücher fu ideata a partire dal 1925 da Walter Gropius e Lazlo Moholy-Naghy, due delle personalità più importanti all’interno della scuola di Weimar. La serie voleva descrivere il mondo del Bauhaus tedesca in relazione alla vita e all’arte.
