Design festivals matter to anyone working in or around the design field, and to a broader audience drawn to design culture. They are where new objects, materials, and ideas are revealed, where conversations happen between designers, brands, schools, and institutions, and where the direction of the discipline comes into focus.
In recent years, the European calendar has expanded considerably, with well-established events growing in ambition and new ones finding their footing.
DESIGN FESTIVALS IN Europe
While Salone del Mobile in Milan anchors the international design calendar, several other European festivals have developed serious programmes and strong followings of their own. What follows is a selection of the events worth tracking in 2026, from Stockholm and Copenhagen to London and Eindhoven.
StockholM Design Week 2026

Stockholm Design Week transforms the Swedish capital into a showcase for Scandinavian design each February, running alongside the Stockholm Furniture Fair. Open studios, showrooms, exhibitions, and workshops animate the city over the course of the week, drawing designers, brands, and an engaged public. The SDW Hub serves as a central meeting point, a place for networking and conversation within the Nordic design community.
Milan Design Week 2026

Each spring, Milan becomes the centre of the global design conversation. Exhibitions, installations, open showrooms, and brand events spread across the city’s districts, studios, galleries, and courtyards, while Salone del Mobile anchors the week at the Rho Fiera fairgrounds. The 64th edition of Salone del Mobile brings over 1,900 exhibitors from 36 countries, the return of the biennial EuroCucina and the International Bathroom Exhibition, and the debut of Salone Raritas, a new platform for collectible and limited-edition design curated by Annalisa Rosso and designed by Formafantasma. Across the city, the Fuorisalone programme gives shape to a parallel world of independent exhibitions and brand activations, with Alcova returning at the Baggio Military Hospital and Villa Pestarini, and the Isola Design District celebrating its tenth anniversary.
LISBON Design Week 2026

Now in its fourth edition, Lisbon Design Week is a young festival with a clear and specific focus: contemporary and collectible design with a strong commitment to Portuguese craft and handmade work. Over five days, more than 250 makers present work across 95 venues spread through the city’s neighbourhoods, from Príncipe Real and Chiado to Marvila and Belém. The format includes open studios, talks, workshops, guided tours, and product presentations, with admission to most venues free of charge. The festival coincides with the ARCO Lisbon art fair, and a permanent strand called the Young Design Generation programme provides a platform for emerging designers.
Antwerp Design Week 2026

Antwerp Design Week returns for five days in late May and early June, spreading across five districts of the city. Over 80 brands open their showrooms, studios, and temporary spaces to professionals and design lovers, with the format deliberately favouring focus over scale. The Design Lover Walks guide visitors through key locations on foot, while talks, workshops, and networking events run throughout the week. The 2026 edition extends its format to include presentations aimed directly at end consumers alongside the established trade programme.
3 Days of Design, Copenhagen 2026

Copenhagen’s design festival has grown into one of the most significant events on the European calendar, and the 13th edition takes place across showrooms, galleries, streets, and studios throughout the Danish capital. In 2025, more than 460 brands participated and over 60,000 visitors attended across 600 events. The format is deliberately open and citywide, covering eight districts from Holmen and Nordhavn to Christianshavn and Kongens Nytorv. All events are free.
Lake Como Design Festival 2026

The eighth edition of the Lake Como Design Festival takes place under the theme Confine (Border), exploring boundaries not simply as lines of division but as zones of contact, tension, and exchange. Exhibitions, talks, and site-specific installations are staged in historic and often overlooked locations in and around the city of Como, maintaining the festival’s commitment to an original dialogue between design, architecture, art, and place. The 2026 Contemporary Design Selection is curated by Giovanna Massoni and directed by Francesca Prandelli.
London Design Festival 2026

Now in its 24th edition, London Design Festival positions London as a global design capital through nine days of exhibitions, installations, talks, open studios, and product launches spread across the city. The Victoria and Albert Museum continues as the central hub, with a network of design districts from Brompton and Clerkenwell to Shoreditch and Mayfair extending the programme across London’s neighbourhoods. In 2019, the festival attracted 600,000 visitors from more than 75 countries. The 2026 edition builds on more than two decades of work establishing London as a destination for international design culture.
Dutch Design Week 2026

Dutch Design Week is the largest design event in Northern Europe, with around 2,500 designers showing work across more than 100 locations throughout Eindhoven over nine days. The range is broad, covering product and spatial design, textiles, fashion, graphic design, and research-led practice. Much of the event’s reputation rests on the presence of the Design Academy Eindhoven, whose graduate show is one of the most closely watched moments in the design calendar each year. The school has produced designers including Formafantasma, Sabine Marcelis, and Maarten Baas, whose careers have done much to define the international standing of both the institution and the event. Dutch Design Week is consistently one of the best places in Europe to encounter work that is genuinely ahead of where the discipline currently stands.
VIENNA Design Week 2026

Founded in 2007, Vienna Design Week is Austria’s most important multidisciplinary design festival, bringing together around 200 events across ten days each autumn. The 2026 edition marks the festival’s 20th anniversary, a significant milestone for an event that has consistently positioned Vienna as one of Europe’s most considered design platforms. As with previous editions, the festival headquarters moves to a new district of the city each year, using the chosen neighbourhood as both setting and subject. The theme for 2026 is Light, explored through a programme that includes a Central European lighting retrospective covering 1950 to 1980.
